If there is one place in the world that looks like what most people would call paradise, then it’s Fiji. Blue skies, crystal clear waters, palm trees and white sand. What more could you ask for in a holiday destination? But just in case you are not fully convinced yet, we have compiled a list of reasons why you should definitely put Fiji on the top of your travel list.
Yes we know that we are stating the obvious here, but how could this not be the first thing we mention about Fiji.
Picture this – you wake up in the morning, ready for a day of island exploring and ocean fun and you open the window. All you can see is a bright blue ocean, palm trees as far as the eye can see and panoramic views no post card could ever replicate. You can feel the sun on your skin as you see all of the colourful fish greeting you through the crystal clear waters. No this is not a dream, this is what waking up in Fiji paradise is like!
A welcoming atmosphere
As you hop between islands you are always greeted with a smile and a welcome party! Enjoy the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the welcome leis, the cocktails and of course, the numerous islands to explore.
Hike in the jungle
Visit Nadi and experience a true Fiji adventure by going on the hike of your life! Walk through the local jungle for the most unique trek you have ever done. Take in all of the different plants, trees, animals and smells. Appreciate the untouched nature around you as you canoe down rivers and visit waterfalls.
If you enjoy seafood, you can taste everything the Pacific Ocean and the Fijian lagoons have to offer, from unicorn fish to rock lobsters to fresh sea grapes.
If locally-grown fruit is more your thing, make sure to try the coconuts, sour sops, passion fruits, guava and breadfruit. Go to the local markets and try out all of the freshly grown produce Fiji has to offer. If in doubt, ask the locals how to prepare them and they will more often than not help you with a smile.
Whatever you choose, be prepared to experience unique and fresh flavours unlike anything you have ever experienced!
Of course we cannot forget the water activities Fiji has to offer. Go extreme snorkelling and diving and see all of the colourful sea life that inhabits its crystal clear waters.
If you are an adrenaline junkie, why not try out shark diving? You get to swim dangerously close to bull sharks and hammerhead sharks – at your own risk.
If you are not quite as adventurous, try swimming with manta rays as they are true gentle giants. Or if you prefer to stay on dry land, try sandboarding! Either way you will not run out of things to do in Fiji.
You can get into a mud fight
You have to take a dip in the local hot springs and mud pools, and naturally get into a mud fight with your friends. It’s a very messy experience, but we guarantee that you will have an amazing time.
Get up before everyone else and watch the sunrise at your nearest beach or hike to the top of one of Fiji’s great peaks. It is one of the best places in the world to watch the sunrise. As a bonus you’ll get to enjoy more of your day since you have started it earlier! It’s a win-win situation.
