Just because the summer is almost over, doesn’t mean that travel is out of the question. In fact, this is the best time to travel if you are looking for a good holiday deal as school has just begun and most tourist locations will be empty.
The temperatures will still be warm, but you will have the beaches and cities all to yourself. So go pack your bags and let’s go on a September adventure!
We have written about Barcelona before, and for a good reason. This vibrant city is bursting with creativity, gorgeous architecture, a relaxed beach vibe and friendly faces. The temperatures in September average around 25ºC with a cool breeze at night. The weather is perfect for a relaxed holiday that won’t make you sweat like crazy. If you are into vegetarian of vegan food, you will be happy to know that Barcelona has declared itself as the first ‘veggie friendly city’, so it is the perfect place for a foodie adventure!
Be there for Catalonia’s national holiday on the 11th of September and witness the city being filled with parties, parades and concerts. Towards the end of September you can take part in the La Mercè, Barcelona’s biggest festival of the year.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires is a strange place – in the best way possible – as the mix of Latin American culture with Italian and Spanish cultures is very apparent in the architecture, the food, the art and the people. In September, winter will be coming to an end as the city starts warming up and gearing up for spring.
Go to an iconic tango night or to one of the many bohemian coffee spots and enjoy the mix of locals and expats as you wander through this beautiful city.
San Francisco, California, USA
While San Francisco is known for its cold weather and fog in the summertime, it warms up as the fog vanishes in September. This is the best time of the year to see this gorgeous city!
Soak up the rays as you explore the Victorian architecture, watch Pier 39’s seals and relax at Dolores Park.
Mexico City, Mexico
Mexico City is a magical place. Filled with colour, amazing food and a rich culture, it is definitely a place you need to visit at least once in your life. We have written about Mexico before, but this time we’re focusing on its beautiful capital.
Visit in September if you want to visit while there aren’t many tourists around as it marks the end of the rainy season. Walk through the city and enjoy all of the delicious street foods and fresh fruit with an average temperature of 25°C. Don’t forget to explore Mexico City’s hottest district while you’re there: Roma Norte!
Lisbon is quickly becoming a cult favourite, especially among young people due to its relaxed atmosphere, cheap food and drink and seaside charms. This city may be small but it is rich in history, funky drinking spots and the best ‘pasteis de nata’ aka. custard tarts.
Visit Bairro Alto while the sun is shining at an average of 26°C, spend an afternoon at Parque das Nações and end your night drinking on the famous Pink Street. We dare you not to fall in love with Lisbon in September.
