It is no secret that Instagram is a beloved source of inspiration in all areas. Whether you’re looking for the hottest new fashion trend or the best plant-based recipe, Instagram has got your back. But with a vast array of new and talented travel bloggers flocking to the app, it has also become the number one source for travel inspiration. The photo-sharing app now even allows you to save your favourite photos and sort them into categories.
While many influencers are openly paid on Instagram, travel Instagrammers tend to go to locations that they genuinely like, making for an authentic representation of each country they show on their feed. The other advantage is that between Insta-feeds and Insta-stories, it is easy to find up-to-date photos and information, which can even be in real-time if the live feature is used. This makes Instagram a better information source than most search engines for newbies and seasoned travellers alike.
Before we start, make sure to check out our Instagram account where we post about the most beautiful travel locations in the world daily.
Find your favourite spots and track them
Use Instagram’s geolocation feature to find out where that beautiful photo was taken and take note. Pay attention to where the photos you like the most were taken and use this to decide on your next group trip location. You can then create an interactive travel map within google maps and suggest that location to your travel buddies within the Leeeta app!
Follow location-specific hashtags and accounts
If you have a specific destination in mind, follow accounts and hashtags that relate to it so that you can get inspired prior to your trip. You can find out where to get the best coffee in Italy or find the best photo locations in Barcelona with this method. You might even find out about locations you never knew existed.
Also check out this guide on how to follow Instagram hashtags, so that you can follow #Paris or #grouptrip for inspiration.
Ask your friends
When in doubt, post a photo to Instagram asking your friends for suggestions and tips. Make sure your caption accurately describes what you are looking for, i.e., best seafood restaurants, best museums or best beaches. To make more users see your post, you can even include location-specific hashtags if your profile is not private.
Once you have decided on a location, added it to the Leeeta app and told your friends about it, you are ready to find things to see and do in your chosen place. Head to the Instagram search bar and tap “places”. Here you can search for geotagged photos and explore from there. If you find any new locations, make sure to add them to your itinerary.
Use Instagram to plan your wardrobe
Don’t know whether to pack shorts or a warm cardigan? Check out the latest photos posted to a specific location. These will be up to date to the point that they are almost live, just make sure to check the time stamp. This way you can adapt your packing to what people are wearing there and not arrive to a bad weather surprise.
Once you are sure where you are going, make sure to download the Leeeta app to invite your friends and get into all of the planning details.
